WOW! Vida in Chelem is an absolutely incredible place to stay. My sister and I stayed here for a month from June-July 2021 and we loved our stay. We were... read more in Vida-Sol which had a window to the veranda and the ocean, making every day magical. The things I loved the most about my stay were the beach (seriously, the water is incredible), the sunsets, and the incredible hosts. Our unit was well-prepared with everything we needed (towels, toilet paper, shampoo and conditioner, drinking/cooking water, utensils, spices, etc.) and the unit looked exactly as it was in the pictures. Whenever we were low on water, paper towels, or toilet paper (or anything else we needed, really), we would contact the on-site host and they would get back to us right away. While we were there, the pool and courtyard spaces were undergoing construction, but as we were leaving, they looked incredible, so future guests should thoroughly enjoy those spaces as well.
The only cons are ones that are not specific to Vida, but rather the area. The power cuts out a fair amount in Chelem, especially during/after storms. Similarly, if all the units are occupied and everyone is using AC, that could trip the breaker 3-4 times in a row, which was frustrating. Although our hosts did everything they could, it was sometimes uncomfortably warm or inconvenient to not have consistent power. If you plan on working or if you are depending on Internet service through the on-site Wi-Fi, you may experience some challenges. That being said, there were locals we spoke with who were 5-6 days without power at a time, and I think the longest time we were without power was 5-6 hours, a testament to our wonderful hosts and their attentiveness to their guests.
Additionally, there are bugs and little critters that will find a way in, no matter how secure you try to make it. Bring bug spray and try to minimize opening and closing doors to makes sure they stay outside if you're particular to that.
If you plan on staying for an extended time in Chelem, I'd encourage you to rent a car. I was looking to sit on the beach and read, so this was an absolutely ideal situation for me, but if you're looking for variety or to be able to easily travel to other areas in the peninsula, a car would make that much easier.
Finally, if there are any issues you have or are worried about, either before or during your stay, contact the on-site hosts. They are incredibly responsive and truly wonderful people. Arturo showed us wonderful places to get fresh-squeezed orange juice and coffee in the mornings, and Rick and J.R. gave excellent recommendations for sights to see in Chelem, Chuburna, Progreso, and other nearby communities. I can't wait to go back!
